The boys had lots of fun building one of these:
So we could have a comfy place
To listen to our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson,
And a lot of other amazing people speak to us at
General Conference this weekend.
River made the sign for our Conference Reverence Tent.
Upon seeing the sign,
I said, "River, why the gun, shark, electric eel, and lightning bolt?"
River said (with a 'duh' tone to his voice), "Because I wanted it to look awesome."
Seeky spent WAY more time running around the tent than in the tent.
It was a little tricky for those outside the tent to see the TV,
But we made it work.
In the Book of Mormon, we read about a great man and prophet, King Benjamin. He was a man that loved and served the people around him. The Nephites adored him. They all traveled to the temple to hear their prophet speak. Each family stayed in a tent, with the opening facing King Benjamin. He taught the people and they hung on his every word. I'm so glad they wrote the words down, because now we can read them today. They listened to him and then did what he taught them to do. King Benjamin reminds me a lot of our prophet, Thomas S. Monson. We decided that even though we don't have to travel, or camp in tents to hear our prophet speak, it sure would be fun to pretend we were like the Nephites. When our prophet spoke, we listened. One of our favorite things President Monson taught us was to do something nice for someone else every day. Now at the end of each day, we check in with each other to see what nice things everyone has done. I know Thomas S. Monson IS God's prophet on the earth today. Needless to say, the kids loved the "Conference Reverence Tent". It was a fun first time for our new Conference Weekend tradition.
