Cabin Fever

When we feel "the fever"of daily life coming on, there's only one thing to do... escape as soon as possible to the cabin!!

At the cabin we always seem to find the cure... as long as we follow these 5 SIMPLE REMEDIES:

#1. REST

Heaven was Daddy's Girl this trip. Every afternoon, she'd curl up beside to him and next thing I knew, they were BOTH sound asleep.

Meadow laid herself down for a nap whenever she got tired.

Lovin' on my girlies.

Snuggling on the "Floor Bed" to watch a movie at night is always a crowd pleaser.

This is the first "vacation" we have taken in a long time where Jared and I actually got to relax a little. It was nice!

#2. READ

Raven and River LOVED getting comfy and reading by the fire.

It's true. Sometimes at the cabin, when you have little kids sleeping, the kitchen light is the only one you can turn on. So... you just read on the kitchen floor.

"Hey, just because I'm a baby, doesn't mean I can't sink my teeth into a good book every once in a while!"

"Oh, wait... I don't even have teeth yet... But I sure am cute!"

#3 CREATE

Jared and Raven creating Dr. Doom gloves.

Painting pumpkins.

River dug himself a comfy dirt chair to relax in.

Raven made a sculpture of some sort.

A Bridge.

Jared raked together an Andy Goldsworthy inspired pine needle sculpture...

That REALLY impressed River.

River made a "Doggie Cage" for two of the cutest little puppies around.

Since this is the closest he's gonna get to owning a real pet, River took this job seriously and provided VERY good care for his puppies!

#4. EXERCISE

Some of our favorite forms of exercise are:
Tree Climbing...

For Hours.

Monkey-ing Around...
For seconds (both boys were like "Hurry and take the picture!!!").

Battling Root Monsters, Stick-Snakes or any other "Enemy" that crossed our path.

Going for walks.

Gathering flowers along the way...

Realizing that not ALL flowers smell as pretty as they look.

A shoulder ride with Daddy.

Piggy-back rides with big brothers.

Taking a family walk...

But NOT at night. It was REAL dark and the elk were REAL loud...

And we got REAL scared (and decided to turn back) by the time we reached the end of the driveway.

After all this exercise, we like to cool down with a little stretching...
River and a tree (yes, even the trees wanted to participate) doing the "downward dog".

Secret doing the "downward dog".

And some other "yoga" move that she kept doing whenever she saw the camera.

#5. FEAST

Something about going to the cabin ALWAYS means eating everything in sight. I ate an entire bag of Cinnamon Bears PACKING for the cabin, AND an entire bag (not grab-bag) of hot cheetos by noon the first day there. Yikes!

Hot Chocolate on the porch.

Sharing a push pop.

Licking the spoon.

Making homemade pizza.

A little party on the floor.

Yum!

What's a cabin trip without S'mores?

Heaven ate...

And drank...

And ate... the whole time. She actually came up to me once and said, "I NEED chocolate chips!"

While all this feasting was GREAT... the real feasting this trip, came in the form of "spiritual feasting". General Conference was held on Saturday and Sunday. The second President Monson stood up and started speaking, the tears started pouring down my face. I looked over at Jared, and sure enough... tears all over the place. I'm so happy to have the gospel in my life. I KNOW that Jesus Christ stands at the head of this church that bears His name. I know that President Monson is the prophet of God on the earth today. I'm grateful to have leaders that love the Lord with all of their hearts and have as their only desire to serve Him in the best way that they know how.

Secret... feasting around on President Uchdorf's message.

The End. But we'll be back!
